For many years Croatia has permanently been in the top list on water quality. Special attention is given to programs which promote and contribute to responsible treatment of marine resources and eco-friendly sailing in Croatia.
Green Sail
More than a thousand yachts have the green sail of the voluntary organisation called 'Green Sail' in support of the environment initiative aimed at preventing pollution of the sea and coastal areas of Croatia.
Together with charter and travel companies, marinas and individual volunteers, it is possible to dispose of garbage in a timely manner and maintain cleanliness.
How to become a responsible yachtsman?
A personal example will allow others to join the program to protect the sea from pollution while sailing in Croatia.
1
Go under the sail
Try to use sails as much as possible without the use of the engine. Listen to the sounds of the sea during yachting in one of the most beautiful water areas in Europe.
2
Don't leave things on the deck
They can easily get into the water. A swimsuit, a book, beer cans, plastic bottles and many other items accumulate at the bottom of the sea.
3
Sort out your rubbish on the yacht
In every marina you can get rid of the rubbish such as food scraps, plastic and glass in your container. Start with your yacht.
4
Watch your water consumption
Be especially attentive using the tap water. Do not leave the tap open if you are not using it at the moment.
5
Take a shower in the marina
Thus you don't need to waste the resources on the yacht, and therefore pay for them.
6
Use non-disposable or recyclable bags
When you go shopping, take a cardboard box at the shop and put everything into it. Avoid using plastic packages.
7
Switch off the engine
When leaving the yacht, switch off the air conditioning and leave only the sidelight light switched on in order not to use the engine running idle.
8
Use your personal water bottle
Use your personal water bottle made of organic materials and fill it when necessary.
