What you need to know about fishing in Croatia?

Sea, lake, river and underwater fishing are very popular in Croatia. Let's find out where and how to get a fishing license, how much it costs and where the best places for a big fish strike are.
In Croatia, there are two main types of capture fishing - commercial and non-commercial. Commercial fishing is limited in gears and fishing techniques. Non-commercial fishing at sea includes sports and recreational fishing, i.e. aimed at having a rest. In this review we are talking about the second option.

Where are the best places for a big fish strike?
Croatia is rich in fish, and in every region there are favorite places for amateur fishermen or just people who prefer to relax with a fishing rod in their hands. We have chosen several famous places to combine yachting and fishing.
Vransko Lake is situated to the south of Zadar. It is the largest freshwater lake in Croatia and it is one of the most popular spots for sports fishing. The water in the lake is very clear, as well as the area around. A lot of bird species are under protection on the lake. Most often people come here to fish for the pike and the common carp.
Otok Murter, Jezerа
Island Murter is considered to be one of the best places to fish for the bluefin tuna, the shark, the yellowtail, the common dolphinfish, the Sebastes and other big fish. In the town of Jezera there is a Fishing Association called "Punta Rata" which organizes tours and competitions for fishermen from all over the world.
Krka
The national park is famous not only for its incredibly beautiful waterfall cascades but also for trout fishing. Competitions, requiring a lot of physical strength from athletes because of the river whitewater, are often held here.
Vodice
Vodice is a famous sea fishing spot near Sibenik. Apart from the big tuna, you can catch the blue shark, the longfin tuna (albacore) and the small tuna, the gilt-head bream, the mahi-mahi, the common dolphinfish, the Japanese amberjack (yellowtail), and the swordfish.
Tribunj
Another famous spot near the Kornati archipelago. Any kind of fishing, including underwater fishing, is allowed here. Most often, people go fishing for the squid here.
